Drumkeeran House Elopement in Pemberton

Mansion meets cabin, villa meets home in the woods, art gallery vibes meet nature retreat – that’s what’s in store for a Drumkeeran House elopement in Pemberton. This small wedding venue in BC isn’t really a venue at all, but it’s exactly what you need for your elopement or intimate wedding. Abi + Tom’s wedding day is all the proof you need.

Why you’ll love the Drumkeeran House for your Pemberton Elopement:

The Sea-to-Sky is arguably one of the most famous places in British Columbia, especially if you are a lover of the great outdoors. And while this stretch of incredible scenery tends to get a bit crowded with tourists who come for elite skiing in its snowy winters or unbeatable hiking under its summer sun, Pemberton remains a hidden gem compared to its busier counterparts such as Whistler or Squamish.

Less busy definitely doesn’t mean less beautiful though. Mount Currie’s impressive peaks line every view, turquoise glacial lakes glitter in the sunlight, and impressive forests paint every view in sight.

Just 15 minutes from the town of Pemberton, the Drumkeeran House sits tucked into the mountainside forest along the shores of Ivey Lake The Celtic-inspired property has 6 ensuite bedrooms, a library, a billiard room, large outdoor decks, a hot tub, and more. The walls are decorated with original art, carefully selected by the Scottish owners, and it’s truly a one-of-a-kind space. A space perfect for elopements and intimate weddings. Ideal for bringing along your family or closest loved ones, getting married in nature, and celebrating in a natural oasis.

A bit about Abi and Tom’s Drumkeeran House Elopement

Abi and Tom are originally from the UK, but have since settled in BC. With their families flying in from abroad, it was important to have a space where they could all stay in one place, soaking up their time together, while showing their loved ones the incredible sights of British Columbia. The Drumkeeran House checked all of their boxes.

They got ready in different parts of the house, waiting to see each other for the first time at the ceremony, which led to plenty of very happy tears. Their ceremony was on the lake and though it threatened to rain all day, it stayed dry during the ceremony and only started spitting towards the end.

But when it comes to weather, in British Columbia it’s always best to have a backup plan. In fact, Abi + Tom were scheduled to have a helicopter elopement. Due to low-lying and thick cloud cover, the helicopter couldn’t fly. So after their sweet ceremony, we headed out to explore for portraits. But rather than feel disappointed, we created a Plan B for their day that they loved just as much as the original plans. So we didn’t explore from above, but we did head to One Mile Lake, explored the boardwalk, and finally headed to a big field with stunning views of Mount Currie.

Even though rain sprinkled throughout the day, the wind whipped, and the clouds hung low – it was such a good day for their Drumkeeran House elopement. From a photographer’s perspective, while I love a sunny wedding day, a day of clouds means perfect lighting with no harsh sun. So take that as a win if it rains on your wedding day! And I bet you won’t believe me when I tell you that Abi’s hair stayed put through the entire adventure thanks to the incredible work of the super-talented Natacha Trottier

At the end of it all, Abi and Tom headed back to the Drumkeeran House for dinner and time with their families. A 10/10 elopement in the Sea to Sky!

Tips for a Drumkeeran House EAlopement in Pemberton:

  • Pemberton is just as beautiful, arguably more so, than other towns in the Sea-to-Sky without the overwhelming bustle of tourism especially in the summer. Mount Currie steals the show, rivalling any view you can find nearby. Keep in mind that in exchange for the quieter, off the beaten path, vibes, you will find less of a selection of restaurants, accommodations, and vendors. However, this definitely shouldn’t deter you! There is plenty to explore, just do your research!

  • Late summer and fall are absolutely stunning times to elope in Pemberton. While British Columbia maintains its green hues most of the year, you will start to get fall vibes at this point. But winter is definitely an option for snow lovers too!

  • Keep in mind that choosing the off-season might lead to tricky road navigation. Check the conditions on Drive BC for highway 99 just to make sure.

  • Hiking lovers have plenty of options! Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is a popular place to hike, with a blue glacial lake, only about 30 minutes from Pemberton and 3 hours from Vancouver. It is extremely busy in the summer though, so keep that in mind! Also, a pass is required in the summer and fall, but free to get online

  • If you decide to book a helicopter (which is always such a fun time!!), create a backup plan in case you can’t fly due to weather. Make sure you love the plan just as much to avoid disappointment on your day. You definitely don’t need a helicopter to get stunning views of the area!

  • Plan a fun experience in nature. Hiking, canoeing on the lake, a helicopter tour, fly fishing – the options are endless! And there is so much to do on the property as well. You can go wrong with a Drumkeeran House wedding in Pemberton!
