Looking for a Wedding Venue in Mexico? Check out Acre Cabo!
Tucked away down a dusty road that feels like a secret path to paradise sits one of the best wedding venues in Mexico: Acre Cabo. How do I know this? My pals Marc and Chelsea hired me as their wedding photographer for their tropical desert destination wedding and even though I’ve spent 9+ years traveling around to wedding venues—this one immediately shot to the top of my must-shoot-here-again wishlist.
These two happen to be good friends of mine because Marc and my husband, Mitch, are old college roommates! With big extended families and no desire to go through the chaos of traditional wedding planning, they knew they wanted to jet set somewhere with good food, beautiful views, and inclusive amenities that made celebrating with their closest loved ones feel easy and fun. Acre Cabo checked every box.

Why Choose Cabo for Your Destination Wedding
Acre Cabo: An Inside Look at A Top Mexico Wedding Venue
Why Choose Cabo for Your Destination Wedding
Mexico needs no introduction. The food, the weather, the culture, the nature—there’s a reason it’s the 2nd most popular travel destination for Canadians and the 6th most popular in the entire world. So naturally when it comes to top destination wedding locations, Mexico has a well-earned reputation for offering couples everything they want and more.
But with so many gorgeous regions to choose from in Mexico, why did Marc and Chelsea ultimately land in Cabo San Lucas? After exploring multiple options, here are the biggest factors that made Cabo the perfect choice:
Weather reliability was non-negotiable.
If you've ever stressed about rain ruining your wedding day (and who hasn't?), Cabo's consistent climate puts those worries to rest. With 350+ days of annual sunshine, the local weather is just about as predictable as it gets year-round. Marc and Chelsea's late April wedding featured perfect temperatures—warm enough to feel like a summery getaway but with the dry heat that doesn’t leave you drenched with sweat (unlike their other super humid choices of Tulum and Cancun).
Accessibility for their guests was crucial.
Some tropical destinations require multiple flights or lengthy transfers, while Cabo offers direct flights from many major cities in Canada and the US. This convenience is definitely something to consider when you're asking loved ones to travel for your celebration! The booming tourism industry makes it safe and local transport super easy as well.
The distinctive landscape captured their imagination.
Unlike the lush jungles of popular coastal destinations like Riviera Maya, Cabo offers a completely different aesthetic thanks to its tropical desert climate. The dramatic contrast of rugged mountains meeting desert meeting sea created natural backdrops that aligned perfectly with the ambiance and vibe they wanted.
The laid-back luxury vibe felt like them.
Los Cabos has mastered the art of sophisticated service that doesn't feel stuffy or pretentious. For a couple who loves good food, beautiful design, and local experiences, this balance was exactly what they were looking for—upscale without being uptight.
The good (and bad) news about Cabo is that there are so many beautiful wedding venues to choose from. And despite that, one still stood out among all of the rest.
Acre Cabo: An Inside Look at A Top Mexico Wedding Venue
This 40-acre farm-land-meets-aristinal resort is the definition of a hidden gem. Founded by two fellow Canadians who fell in love with Baja, you can tell Acre Resort is a true passion project.
Beyond the stunning architecture, they've created a working farm with organic gardens that supply their kitchen, cocktails with local mezcals, and accommodations that redefine what a "treehouse" can be. They even started an animal sanctuary where they rescue local dogs (how special would it be to adopt a pup at the place you got married??)
The entire property is a perfect balance of modern design and a homage to traditional Mexican craftsmanship, making it the type of wedding venue that design lovers, handicraft fanatics, and foodies like Marc and Chelsea absolutely swoon over.
Acre Resort is an ideal Mexico wedding venue for you if:
You want an incredible variety of settings in one location.
Marc and Chelsea appreciated how Acre offers such distinct backdrops all with their stunning design elements (and all within walking distance).
Sun-drenched desert gardens with sculptural cacti and agave
Lush tropical pathways lined with palm fronds
Modern architectural elements balanced with cozy, sustainably sourced Mexican details
This variety meant they could create different scenery throughout their wedding day without ever needing to transport between locations—a photographer's dream and a practical win for the timeline, too!!
You want to choose from different celebration spaces.
Welcoming wedding celebrations of all sizes, Acre has a ceremony site and a reception space perfect for guest lists from 2 to 350 people.
Los Agaves – Their newest space is a circular courtyard with desert flora at every turn, with a kitchen, bar, and lounge right on the grounds, making it easy to host your ceremony and reception all in one spot. This stunning option holds up to 250 guests.
Mango Orchard – If you're drawn to lush greenery, this tiled-floor ceremony location is surrounded by a canopy of mango trees while string lights add a romantic glow as the evening festivities begin. It's perfect for larger celebrations (up to 350 guests).
Intimate Celebration Spaces – With smaller weddings, there are endless possibilities for where to host your wedding day events. They offer five distinct settings, including the Blue Room with moody lighting (where M & C had their speeches & dances), the Rooftop Terrace with epic sunset views (where M & C had their reception dinner), and the Lover's Lawn that creates the perfect garden ceremony setting (where M & C hosted their ceremony). These spaces are ideal for up to 36-48 guests, perfect for those intimate getaway weddings with your closest loved ones.
Food and drink are a top priority.
If you know Chelsea, you know she’s a foodie (she knew more of the foodie spots in Vancouver after two months than I knew in, well, my entire lifetime of living here). So if you’re the type of person to scout out the best restaurants, Acre won’t disappoint. Their globally inspired menu created with locally sourced ingredients (most straight from the farmland around the property) will knock your socks off. Their restaurant was awarded the Michelin Green Star Award in 2024 and is continuously recommended as one of the best restaurants in Cabo! Between the restaurant, cafe, catina, and their private dining options—dinner, cocktail hours, and late-night snacks are sure to be a hit.
Memorable and unique accommodation options alongside the wedding venue are a must.
Chelsea and Marc opted for the treehouse bungalow for their wedding stay, which is my personal favourite option at the resort! You sit above the tree canopy which is very unique and well-thought details like private outdoor showers make it feel like that private, luxe tropical getaway. These were ranked #3 Sexiest Hotel in the World by Cosmopolitan, so what more could you want for your wedding night? They also have jungle villas and walled-off haciendas sprinkled around the resort, each one with its own pros (but not a single con, to be honest).
You’re looking for a full resort experience to make it a true destination wedding.
Beyond just the wedding day, Acre offered activities and amenities that would keep their guests feeling like they were on their own vacation, too! When they weren’t celebrating, they loved that their guest could:
Head over to a morning yoga class by the jungle pool
Play an evening match on the pickleball courts
Take a mixology class to learn the secrets behind their award-winning cocktails
Indulgence in some relaxation at the spa
Stroll through the working farm to see where your dinner ingredients are grown (or head off on horses to explore the land)
Play with the pups at the on-site dog rescue or visit with the other peacocks, goats, pigs, and ducks on the grounds
Tell your guests to roam around as they please or invite them to take part in scheduled activities for a full-blown wedding weekend!
A Real Wedding at Mexico Wedding Venue, Acre
If you’re in the process of planning a wedding, you’ve likely scoured wedding venue websites, searched Pinterest for inspiration, and have a vision for the type of day you want to create. But as a wedding photographer, I know how hard it can be to imagine your day unfolding without an example from a real wedding at your venue of choice.
So with the help of Marc and Chelsea’s wedding day, I’ll help you envision exactly what your day could look like at Acre Cabo from start to finish.
The Highlight Reel of Marc & Chelsea's Acre Celebration
To avoid Mexico’s midday heat, the timelines for wedding days at Acre are always in the late afternoon and squeeze in during golden hour before after-dark dinner and dancing!
Getting Ready: Imagine waking up on your wedding day in a treehouse! That’s where Chelsea, along with her mom and sister, got ready with their last touch ups before the day really started.
First Looks: This wedding had not one, but two first looks—one with Chelsea and Marc and one with Chelsea and her dad! Both were filled with some sweet, sentimental moments shared in private before the following celebrations spent with the rest of the guests. Something I really recommend to couples who want to add some extra time spent with their closest loved ones on their day!
Ceremony: The couple shared personal views on Lover’s Lawn in a ceremony officiated by their close friend, followed by the lighting of a unity candle.
Cocktail Hour: Hosted in the Blue Room, with moody blue-hued lighting and a dedicated kitchen area that made for the perfect space to gush over the ceremony, unwind with a drink, and relax before the continued festivities!
Portraits Around the Property: While guests sipped craft cocktails, Marc, Chelsea and I set off for couples portraits! Thanks to the venue's golf carts and bicycles, we popped between desert gardens and palm trees by the pool and little nooks around the property during sunset, giving us tons of variety in photos all drenched in that golden hour glow we love!
Dinner: Then I took the newlyweds over to the Rooftop Terrace for a family-style meal as the sun set over Acre—STUNNING! This dinner venue is right next to the public restaurant, but you still have plenty of privacy, your own music, mood lighting, and all of the things to make the venue feel entirely yours.
Reception & Dancing the Night Away: After dinner, everyone headed back to the Blue Room for the final celebrations of the night!
When it comes to planning a wedding at Acre, there are so many spaces to choose from for ceremonies, private dinners, cocktails, and accommodation—everything feels super customizable. Marc and Chelsea’s day is just one way to make the most of this wedding venue in Cabo.
FAQs For Your Own Acre Cabo Wedding
How do you get to Acre Cabo wedding venue?
Cabo offers direct flights from many major cities in the US and Canada, making travel relatively straightforward! The venue is located close to the airport (less than 15 km away), making it super easy to get to with a rental car, taxi, or privately booked shuttle!
Can I get legally married in Mexico?
Like many international couples, Marc and Chelsea legally married at home before their Mexico celebration. This allows you to have someone meaningful officiate your ceremony while avoiding international paperwork headaches. Personally, I recommend this to every single destination wedding couple!
How much does it cost to get married in Mexico?
I will not lie, Acre Cabo is not a cheap wedding venue. Cabo does have venues for every budget, though! When factoring in what you’ll be paying for, keep in mind that you will likely be saving plenty of money versus a traditional wedding on plated food (because of fewer guests), decor, and florals (not necessarily needed at a place like Acre).
What is the best time of year to get married in Cabo?
While Cabo enjoys incredible weather year-round, certain months offer more comfortable temperatures for sure! Marc and Chelsea's late April wedding hit the sweet spot—warm days but not overwhelming heat. November through April typically offers the mildest weather conditions, avoiding both the intense summer heat and its rainy season (though only about 10 days a year) from July through September.
Do I need a wedding planner for my destination wedding?
While it’s not an absolute must, I cannot emphasize how helpful it is to have a local wedding planner for your destination wedding. Partnering with someone who knows vendors, speaks the language, understands the local logistics, and has worked with the venue before is invaluable and makes planning a lot less stressful! If you are having trouble finding a planner, you could always ask your venue if they have any references, usually they do!
